My best friend is leaving for the Peace Corp in January. She will be living for 27 months in Guinea. I've been trying to get ideas of what to compile into one great big going away package for her. I'm anticipating sending care packages in the future, but would like to send her well on her way. Any ideas of items often overlooked?

Hello
Great site! I'm finishing up joining and was trying to get some real time info. Hope you're enjoying life out there. What is it really like? Need to know before I finish process. Any thoughts? Great site! I'm I.T. and very impressed.

As I am from Tashkent, Uzbekistan I can tell you that you will be able to find many things in Uzbekistan. I wouldn't take so much. I think returned PCVs and anyone else who advised you to take so many things, which easily can be found in, at least, Tashkent, never knew where to shop. Things are cheap in Uzbekistan. When people (4 persons family) can live for $30 per month, i am sure you will be fine with $100.

I'd definitely stock up on the feminine products. I remember this being a particularly trick issue for me on a stop over in fiji. Also, more underwear than I would think necessary.
Almost anything else can be tolerated? (I hope.)

Hi, just got a nomination yesterday for a health education posting in Latin America leaving at the beginning of January. It's great to read the thoughts (and great information) of someone who is a little further into the process than me. Thanks.
