After being hungry for hours, I walked into the kitchen and found myself flouring chicken fillets with Turkish roasted chilies I brought back from Istanbul in July. The red and black flakes are less spicy than they are fragrant, infusing a bouquet from the fire fueled by Istanbul breezes.
The fillets joined the already caramelized garlic and shallots in a pan luxurious with olive oil. The bittersweet morsels quickly seared onto the chicken, crispy and piqued with flavor. To that, I finished off some left over sun-dried tomatoes and simmered it all in a basil pesto. Capellini never had better company.
I was half tempted to call a dear friend over to join me, especially when I opened the Bordeaux. But I resisted in better judgement of recent emotional revelations this dear friend had for me. I can't reciprocate in kind.
Tonight, its dinner for one.
man...that sounds like an ideal dinner, would have added perhaps some good music...say belle and sebastains new CD...i would have enjoyed sharing it with you and discussing the issues of the world, the joys of life, and the disappointments of friends....next time remember me...cheers neil

I'm salvating over here.
Last night I couldn't sleep. I was up in the middle night and I started to get hungry. There's no damn room service in this shitty hotel I'm in, so I was forced to go down a floor to the vending machine where I opted for the blueberry muffins (i guess having one berry per muffin qualifies as blueberry).

Your dinner sounds amazing! sometimes a great dinner and solitude is the best thing you can give yourself.

Great blog.
We have friends in the adoption community who have travelled to Uz to adopt their son.
I loved 'Salt" and either have read or have been meaning to read most of the other books. Since settling down with my kids I haven't been travelling like I used to, but it's great to read a blog from someone who's been to many of the places I journeyed to when I was younger. We're hoping to get to China and Cambodia again, w/ the kids, in the next year or two.
Safe Journeys...
