The poisonous effects of too much alcohol has left me numb and languid on this Monday. I reached my limits last night after Jim, Jen, Steven, Glen and I polished off three bottles of wine while sitting in the pleasant courtyard of a funky wine bar downtown in the Village. Just had this aweful feeling that I would get sick so I made Jim put me into a taxi. All I remember is him saying how I was a happy, balanced person as he closed the door. Don't really know why he would say that except out of drunken sentiment, or pity. I had been having a fun time connecting with Jen over sex clubs, being single, our waitress' nice breasts (admired all around), and just about everything girls usually find in common. I like that kind of bonding between confident, self-assured women.
I was keeping tabs on the drinking and it surprised me that it took such a toll. Either I'm out of practice or my body is not very resilient at the moment. Had lots of white wine at Ro's party Saturday night, Tobias as always at the ready to refill my empty glass. Men on the make are always so attentive to the amount of alcohol you consume. Sunday started about with a round of bloody mary's at Pete's Tavern in Gramercy Park, which actually helped the morning's hangover. Then beers at the Yankee game were in order (Yankees 3 : Baltimore 1). Drinks in Union Square before meeting Jen at her apartment on 8th Street, right above Dojo's. Then off to the wine bar before I reached threshold.
Obviously, it was all too much. I immediately passed out back at Ro's and woke up this morning only to call in sick to work and stayed in bed until noon. Post-hangover greasy pizza and a coke set me up for the train ride home.
Manged to get to my Politics in Developing Countries class although I'm so behind in my reading that I'll never catch up. The good news of the day is confirming my medial clearance for the Peace Corps...yippeee!!! And Joye also confirmed that placement has "decided" on my case so I should hear from them very soon. I'm preparing myself for a Uzbekistan assignment since it cooincides with the season, business extension, and departure date. It pretty much won't matter at this point which country I go to. It's all pretty intense anyway.
What interesting posts you have! I visited the Turkish food site - it was worth it for the pictures alone (unfortunately I can't understand the recipes)
