After reviewing a bunch of boring, soboring, and informative briefings on Peace Corps policies & procedures, we have officially completed our staging session here in Phili. Mixed emotions all around the room as 50 of us express our thoughts before flying off tomorrow for Uzbekistan. I offered to be my "team captain" so I can distract myself with the tasks of being responsible for 10 people in our preparations to leave. Otherwise, I will either resort to heavy drinking, or mopping up an emotional puddle in my room.
I'm actually taking the time to post here because I've learned from several other UZ17'ers that their parents have been following this blog. Rest assured that we are all taking care of each other. We are happy to be with such a supportive group. You may have heard about the New York area getting snow tomorrow, but the Peace Corps staff have been reassured by the bus company that there should not be a problem getting to the airport. We are leaving the hotel at 12.00pm, and have plenty of time to get all 50 of us along with 150+ pieces of luggage to catch our flight at 6.30pm.
That's all for now...lots of love everyone XO
Next post may be from London!
