For anyone sending me books to Uz from the US, you should use the US Postal Service "M" Bag that ships books and periodicals overseas at a rate of $1 per pound. It takes about 4-6 months.
The post office will give you a giant white bag with an "M" Bag tag and a mailing slip. You must box all books and place the box(es) in the bag and sinch it. Each box must be labeled clearly with a "To:" and "From:".
You can send as many bags as you wish, but the most economical is to send a minimum of 10lbs. at once. Anywhere between 1-10 lbs, it will cost $11, so you might as well send 10 lbs. From 10-70 lbs., it costs $1 for each additional pound.

God Bless You, Dee... You're a great American...
President Bush may not have the whole thing right yet; but sharing the blessings God gave us with the people who need them is exactly what we're supposed to do.
Thank you for leading by example.

Stumbled on your site, don't know how. I was in the PC in Ethiopia in another life time. Life was rough there. It did give me the opportunity of travel until I was sick of it. Ended up spending 7 years outside the US, met my wife, did research for a Master's, rode a motorcycle across Africa, damn near died more than once, saw a few jails and made it in one piece. Now live in FL. Keep your attitude up, try to mingle, be open to experiences, enjoy your time.

Alicia, she may not know it now, but Dee will want anything in English. I became a devoted reader of People and Entertainment Weekly, two pieces of trash I would never read in the States.

Thank you for your generous thoughts, Alicia.
I don't really need anything right now and if I am to take advantage of the kindness of strangers, I'd like for it to benefit others as well. When I arrive in Uz, I'll have a better sense of what I/we will need, as well as what some of the locals want. Then if you're interested in organizing a drive for us, then you really are an angel ;D

Is there anything you would specifically like to receive, bookwise? Anything for you or to give to others?
